What a fantastic couple of weeks it has been in Australia!   I’m delighted to say that I managed to qualify for the 2012 Red Bull  Cliff Diving World Series – WHAT A RUSH!!!

Despite the unusually cold and wet summer weather, Blake completed an impressive first heat showcasing a reverse double somersault with four twists dive – a dive he had impressively only learnt the day before. Blake finished the first heat at the top spot followed closely by American David Colturi.

The 15 cliff divers taking part in the event completed a total of eight dives from the 27.5 meter high platform in front of a crowd of 4,000 die hard fans,

battling for the right to compete in the most prestigious competition in the sport. The qualifiers finished on Saturday 4th Feb with four of the world’s best emerging victorious as full-time participants in the Red Bull Cliff Diving World Series – we are delighted that Blake was part of the successful team of four.

David Colturi – the American whose World Series debut was as a wildcard in Boston in August 2011 – finished top just ahead of Great Britain Olympian Blake Aldridge, and 2011 rookies Steven LoBue (USA) and Jorge Ferzuli (MEX). All four made the cut for the Red Bull Cliff Diving World Series thanks to their sterling efforts and hard work.

Apogee Corporation have long since sponsored Blake Aldridge and are over the moon with the result. What we admire about Blake is his focus, determination and strength of character that we believe continually drive him toward reaching his goals – ethics that can also be found deep within our own business culture. We are all looking forward to the Red Bull Cliff Diving World Series competitions in the coming months.
