Blake has chosen to make Dubai his base during the world tour as his sister and husband both live and work. He says “its easy for me to stay motivated and fit here as the climate is always hot and bright. Also, being without my sister for 4 years, its great for me that she and her husband both come to the gym to push me and train with me as well.”
Blake is delighted that this year 2 of the legs of the World Series, Ireland and Wales, are closer to his home crowd and has said that this adds to his motivation to performed well in this world class field of Cliff Divers.Blake Aldridge, current and 3 times European Cliff Diving Champion, is unable to take part in this year’s Europeans Championships in Ponte Brolla as, having qualified to be a permanent member of 2012 Red Bull Cliff Diving World Series, he will be competing in the 3rd leg of the tour in Portugal.
Following his success at 10m culminating in being a finalist in the 2008 Beijing Olympics, Blake started cliff diving in 2009 from 20m. His first experience was at the World High Diving Federation (WHDF) European Championships in Ponte Brolla. He is very grateful to the WHDF for giving him that opportunity.
In addition to his successes in the European Championships, Blake came 2nd in a very strong field in the WHDF International High Diving Competition 2011 at Liuzhou, Guanxi Province, in South China.
